6/20/2009 The Amazing Rumbling Hypno Disc That's right folks, step right up and mystify your mind! This is my first app that I will release on the platform. Adjust the effects and add rumble to help stimulate your brain. You can download and play your own music or positive messages in the background to help promote a better self hypnosis effect. Coming soon to xbox live! 6/8/2009 TicTacToe is popular!6/6/2009 TicTacToe now available on marketplace! TicTacToe has been approved and is ready for download on marketplace now. You can download directly to your xbox here: Xbox Marketplace 6/1/2009 Microsoft at E3 2009 Microsoft showed off some really amazing stuff at this years e3! The coolest thing by far was their 3d camera system natal which tracks your whole body in 3d space and translates this to your onscreen character. Check out everything in the video at gamespot: Microsoft E3 Conference I really hope this stuff makes it's way to xna. 5/22/2009 TicTacToe on the zune!!!After completing my most recent game I thought why not try and put it on my zune?
And I am happy to say that it was a very easy conversion.
Some things are different like instead of 1280x720 resolution I had to convert to using 240x320 which meant cropping the backgrounds and adjusting the play areas a bit.
Also playing sounds appears to be different on the zune and I have yet to look into how to play them. So for now, the sounds are the only thing not working.
Here are some screenshots of how it looks:
Main menu (I removed the local multiplayer and tell a friend menu choices as they don't really apply to the zune)
TicTacToe (This works exactly as it does on xbox)
RockPaperScissors (This mode works the same except I had to change the control scheme to left,up,right)
I believe that the system link works correctly as well but I only have one zune to test on so I cannot be 100% sure.
After I fix up the music/sfx I might release this as a mobile companion to the xbox version. 5/14/2009 New game mode finished for tic-tac-toe! You can now play either tic-tac-toe or rock-paper-scissors either locally 1-2 players or online against an opponent! Choose from 20 backgrounds to keep things fresh and if you get tired of my awesome music, it fully supports custom sound tracks! ![]() ![]() The game is currently in playtesting over at the creators club and should be in review soon. I just really want to make sure that everything is working well with the online aspect as I am really new to network programming in general. Right now you can select between the two modes of play in the options menu and the main menu will start whatever mode you chose. If you are joining an online game, you will be automatically switched to whatever mode the host is currently playing. Looking forward to beating some people online! 5/10/2009 New games are coming!!!![]() Keep an eye out for tic-tac-toe on xbox community games! As yet another side project I decided to re create a classic. Test your skill in single player against tough ai or take your skills online and battle opponents around the world! Also planned for this game is a bonus online mode "Rock-paper-scissors". Here's a preview: ![]() It's in playtesting now, stay tuned for release details... 5/2/2009 TheCollector update now on marketplace!TheCollector is now updated and ready for download. This update greatly enhances the trial mode, giving you a preview of what this game has to offer. Before you were limited to just single player and that's it, now you can preview both single and multiplayer modes as well as the awards screen. Happy collecting! 4/21/2009 Another doublevision review.Doublevision got some more attention over at SFX360. Check out the review here: http://www.sfx-360.com/reviews/double-vision This site features some good reviews of not only community games but many other games as well check it out! 4/13/2009 The Collector gets an update!I took a break from dots this weekend and went back and fixed some gameplay issues in 'The Collector' Some of the things that changed:
4/6/2009 A new species has arrived!Let me introduce dots. ![]() As some people might remember, dots was a project I began and submitted to the dream build play warmup contest. After submitting this project, I still had a lot of ideas to improve it but not much time. That has changed now. After completing 'The Collector' and 'DoubleVision' I've decided to finish this game up and get it to marketplace. Dots is a game where you don't worry about points but instead focus on the characters. You start off by creating 4 alpha dots to begin your civilization. ![]() Setting the traits they will pass on to their children. As time goes on, the dots will grow, form friendships and have children. You can just kick back and observe a single dot or the whole population and they will go about their business. You also have the option to interact with the dots directly. Petting dots is a good way to lead them towards food or a potential mate. You also have a store where you can sell dots to a trader to earn cash or you can buy things for your dots. ![]() Some items you purchase can directly effect the genetic traits of a dot and some items may be purely for the entertainment of you and your dots. ![]() Some items will be available upon starting the game and other will be unlocked as the game goes on. I want to finish up and add some more things before putting this into playtesting, don't want to rush anything. Check out the preview here: XBLCG.infoNick Gravelyn has just posted about his short linking service at: http://xblcg.info/ By using this service community games developers can provide a shorter link to potential customers that they may remember. Also, all the games are neatly organized on the site alphabetically. Using doublevision as an example: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802585501b7/ becomes http://xblcg.info/link/doublevision As you can see, this is much a much simpler address for the customer to remember. 4/1/2009 Sales figuresHere are my sales to date: The collector: Released: 12/29/08 Total sales: 43 Total downloads: 2140 Conversion: 2% Gross: $72.84 DoubleVision: Released: 2/27/09 Total sales: 294 Total downloads: 4792 Conversion: 6.1% Gross: $996.07 I figured out the gross by taking 70% of $0.0121 per MS point. ![]() As you can see, sales haven't been huge but they are there. I think advertising more will help to improve numbers in the future. I have no less than 3 active projects right now. PublicIntoxication is being rewritten from the ground up and will be supporting single player and multiplayer either locally or via xbox live. The online scoreboards for doublevision are still in the works and will be done soon. Look for dots to make an appearance soon. I have picked up development of this project again as sales figures have revealed some things about the marketplace right now. And there is one more project I am working on which will be a twist on some things I developed earlier on before xna. Back to work now... 3/17/2009 Second review of DoubleVisionWell, found another one: This one is a bit longer, here's the link: http://www.xnplay.co.uk/2009/03/17/doublevision/ Looking forward to seeing a few more reviews yet, always interesting to see what people have to say. On another note, PublicIntoxication is back in full swing and has been coming along nicely. I am completely rebuilding it from the ground up this time using the network state management sample as a starting point. Currently you can have 2 players walking around a city level with some enemys you can kill. The cool thing is this works the same for singleplayer and all the networking modes! I have a much clearer vision on the gameplay mechanics this time around and will soon surpass where the previous game was at. 3/13/2009 First review of doublevision.I was looking around and found this on ign: If you're of legal drinking age, you've probably seen what's left of the American arcade industry, namely those fun little touch screen games. If you're really lucky, you got to spend some time with friends playing the nudie spot-the-difference game, which is amazing, mainly because of the stunning assortment of circa 1980s porn apparently still out there. DoubleVision keeps it G-rated, but the concept is the same: spot differences between two pics. What makes this actually worth the price, though, is the addition of a handful of little vision-based challenges like picking certain toys out of a huge pile. Fun! Here's the link: http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/959/959673p1.html They review a number of the other new games released on xblcg, it's worth a read. 3/12/2009 Double vision updates and a new tutorialWell with TheCollector and DoubleVision complete, it is time to move onto the next project in line in PublicIntoxication. Instead of simply converting code and such I am going to completely rewrite the game from the ground up using many of the things I have learned so far. One important addition to the game will be live multiplayer support. I had a brainstorming session the other day and came up with a bunch of new ideas. I feel the game will be much more fun with these changes while still maintaining what made it fun in the first place. Within probably a week I should have something up and running and possibly in playtesting. Because I am now working on live multiplayer support, I figured the best place to start would be a live leaderboard which I could add to my previous games and any new ones. I have managed to convert the current highscore system to work pretty well with this. I started with the peer to peer sample from the xna site and it hasn't been to hard to impliment. I will add this as an update to DoubleVision for sure and was thinking of writing a tutorial on how to do it and either post it here or on ziggyware so stay tuned for that. Look for more updates later this week. 2/27/2009 DoubleVision now on marketplace.DoubleVision Approved!Double vision has been approved. You should be able to get it soon on marketplace soon. 2/21/2009 DoubleVision in review!Things have come along nicely. It is currently moving through peer review right now.
There is a short article on it here: http://xboxhornet.wordpress.com/
I'm looking to get some more full reviews on it soon so stay tuned.
Additionally I would like to release this game on windows as well as xbox360 as it has been build to work with both from the ground up.
I actually find it a blast to kill time on my notebook when I need something to play.
So look for a pc version soon. |
